Juicing Recipes for Arthritis

There are two major forms of arthritis - rheumatoid arthritis and osteo arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that can cause the membrane which protects the joints to become thickened and inflamed.  Pain, stiffness and swelling can be experienced in many joints.

Osteo arthritis is a degenerative joint disease that can cause cartilage loss in the joints leading to eventual stiffness and pain.  The major cause of immobility, disablement and suffering is arthritis.

More and more people are moving away from orthodox treatment such as drugs to reduce pain and inflammation or surgery for replacement of diseased joints.  They are moving towards natural foods and remedies for treatment or pain relief.

Nutrients from certain foods can provide pain relief and help to slow down the progression of arthritis.  Red meat contains high saturated fat content and avoiding such food can help to prevent inflammation.  Other types of food that can exacerbate arthritis symptoms include refined carbohydrates, oats, wheat, processed foods and dairy produce.

Both rheumatoid arthritis and osteo arthritis responds very well to calcium, minerals, selenium, vitamins A, C and E and zinc and most fruits and vegetables contains all these needed nutrients.  However, do be cautious about night shade family of vegetables such as potatoes, aubergines, peppers, tomatoes and paprika which can often cause pain in the joints.  If you are not sure which are the right fruits and vegetables to use for your juices, just follow our juicing recipes below.
